To determine whether you are eligible, and to participate, read and follow the information below.

Eligible Product

If you purchased an HP iPAQ that is cell phone enabled (capable of making wireless telephone calls) and you are located in CA, then you are eligible for free recycling (processing to recover reusable materials) of a cell-phone-enabled HP iPAQ and/or a cell phone of any brand (called "Eligible Product" below). Cell phones shipped from outside of CA and other electronic hardware are not eligible for this free program, although other HP recycling programs may meet your needs-for information on other HP recycling programs, visit www.hp.com/recycle.

Your Responsibilities

You are the generator of any Eligible Product that you send to HP for recycling, and you are responsible for properly packaging and managing Eligible Product before receipt by HP. You are responsible to:
  1. delete any confidential data that may be contained on Eligible Product to be returned;
  2. include only one or two Eligible Products (e.g., only one or two cell phones), and no other items;
  3. follow the minimum packaging instructions below, and any additional packaging steps* that you identify as necessary. (*Example: Business / professional customers, attach appropriate universal waste label if applicable-see http://www.dtsc.ca.gov/HazardousWaste/UniversalWaste/index.cfm for information about CA universal wastes.)
When your package is ready, follow the steps under "Shipping".

Minimum Packaging Instructions

  1. Keep the battery installed in the Eligible Product, or exclude it from the shipment (see www.hp.com/recycle for more information on recycling rechargeable batteries if you wish to manage them separately).
  2. Ensure that Eligible Product is powered off.
  3. Select a corrugated cardboard box (not a single wall box) which is sturdy and free of damage. Consider using the box that your new HP iPAQ was shipped in, or similar size box.
  4. Place the Eligible Product in the box, filling void spaces with cushioning material such as crumpled newspaper.
  5. Tape all seams securely closed with packaging tape, so that Eligible Product is expected to remain in the package and protected during transit.

Shipping

  1. With packaging tape, securely affix to the box the prepaid shipping label. Place packaging tape so that it does not block the information on the label.
  2. Drop off your completed package at an authorized United Parcel Service location—see www.ups.com/content/us/en/locations/ for UPS store, drop box, or retail alliance locations near you.
